Macclesfield and District Young Stroke Society

Welcome to MADYSS

In September 2004, MADYSS was developed from the Stroke Association's Family Support Unit at Macclesfield Hospital by a group of younger stroke survivors and their carers from within the borough of Macclesfield and its districts.

Our aim is to support both the stroke survivors and their carers by holding informal monthly meetings and social events.

Each stroke and each individual's response to their new circumstances are unique and the journey back to optimum health is often exceedingly difficult. However, with the right attitude and motivation, together with a fun environment and support from others who know the challenges and frustrations, we believe rehabilitation as possible.

MADYSS is open to any stroke survivor and carer who are looking to become part of a supportive community.

HEADLINES

We have three vacancies on the Committee and urgently need them filling. Please come and join our friendly team to ensure that your voice is heard and you can bring some new ideas to MADYSS. The vacancies are as follows:
Fundraising Secretary: only twice a year and certainly lots of helpers to assist.
Assistant to Treasurer: Judy will guide you all the way.
Assistant Organiser: required to assist Kay.

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING: Monday 13th May 2024
It will take place at our usual venue, Macclesfield Tennis Club.
As previously announced, it is our 20th anniversary and we will be having a special AGM to mark the occasion. Members should arrive from 12.30 pm for a 1.00 pm start. Those who are not MADYSS members cannot vote, so any non-members who are present will not have voting rights. Annual membership fees will be due and remain at £20.00 each. Payment via BACS is preferred using your last name and subs as the reference (e.g., Brown Subs) or cash on the day if a BACS transfer isn’t possible.
Please note that Alex Greenwood and Louise Little from the Co-op will be coming to the AGM to talk to members about MADYSS, get feedback, and take photographs for their in-house magazine. This will also give their readers an indication of how the Co-op is spending members’ charitable contributions.
